Eco Sustainable Solutions Ltd, a UK organics recycling company has revealed that work has begun on a combined heat and power (CHP) plant to be built at its Parley site near Dorset. A purpose-built facility for organics recycling and renewable energy, the site processes 150 000 tonnes of material to produce enriched topsoil, compost and woodchip as well as post-consumer and industrial wood waste derived fuel currently exported to the Netherlands and Sweden.
The GBP 5 million project, which is expected to be completed by March next year, will use around 10 000 tonnes per annum of oversize material from its compost operation as fuel. Power generated from the CHP will be used at the Parley site with any excess fed into the national grid.
– Renewable energy is the way forward in terms of both meeting our climate change commitments and providing much needed clean and green fuel. We already have one of the UK’s largest solar farms, covering about 380 acres, and this biomass plant is further evidence of our belief that renewable energy represents the future, commented Trelawney Dampney, Founder and Managing Director of Eco Sustainable Solutions in a statement.
