World Bioenergy Association appoints new Executive Director

The World Bioenergy Association (WBA) has announced that Bharadwaj Kummamuru takes over the role of Executive Director. He was previously working as the Project Officer for WBA since 2014. He will succeed Karin Haara who will continue her work in WBA as a Senior Advisor.

It is a great privilege for having this opportunity to serve as the Executive Director of World Bioenergy Association. Having been a part of the Association for the past three and a half years, I am well aware of the various challenges and opportunities of the organisation. As the leading global bioenergy association, we will continue our vision for promoting sustainable bioenergy worldwide and to create value for our members, said Bharadwaj Kummamuru.

It has been a challenging work to set up a global association. With the help of the former and current President, board members and members, we have built up a truly global network of bioenergy associations, companies and individuals. I wish Bharadwaj Kummamuru best wishes for the future of the association and I will continue assisting the development of the Association in an advisory role, said Karin Haara.

Although Haara steps down as Executive Director she will continue to assist WBA as a Senior Advisor, providing valuable advice for WBA with her extensive knowledge of bioenergy and networks developed over the years.

I congratulate Bharadwaj Kummamuru on his appointment. I also wish to thank Karin Haara for her service and excellent work in developing the organisation. Her tireless efforts have increased the presence and value of the organisation. We will continue our mission to promote sustainable development of all bioenergy sectors. The future development of bioenergy and WBA will focus on liquid biofuels for transportation, regional development of bioenergy in upcoming markets like Japan, China, Africa and elsewhere. Our ambition of setting up WBA branch offices will be important for such development, said Remigijus Lapinskas, President, WBA.
