US-headed Flint Hills Resources LLC has announced an agreement with Southwest Georgia Ethanol, LLC to acquire its ethanol plant in Camilla, Georgia. The transaction is expected to close after customary closing conditions have been satisfied, including regulatory approvals. The purchase price is not being disclosed.
According to a statement, the plant will be Flint Hills Resources’ seventh ethanol plant and its first outside the Midwest. Located Camilla, Georgia (GA), the plant opened in 2008 and has an annual capacity of 100 million US gallons (≈ 378 million litres) of ethanol.
Employing 60 staff, the plant also produces more than 275 000 tons of dried distillers grains (DDG) and approximately 25 million pounds (≈ 11 300 tonnes) of non-food grade corn oil annually.

Flint Hills Resources’ grain processing business currently includes six ethanol plants with a combined annual capacity of 650 million gallons (≈ 2.46 billion litres), a biodiesel plant in Nebraska (NE), and investments in biofuels technology and feedstock development.
