GESS developing gas-to-grid project in North Carolina

In the United States (US), renewable energy services company Green Energy Sustainable Solutions, Inc.(GESS) has announced plans for a new biogas plant in Nash County, North Carolina (NC). The project, producing 330,000 MMBtus of renewable natural gas annually, will be the Nash County Green Energy Biogas Park, LLC. The facility will use swine waste in its conversion to natural gas that can be directly injected into the nearby existing pipeline.

The brownfield site, located in the city of Spring Hope, is a former ethanol plant and reclaiming the site will positively impact the community with new jobs created by the project both in development and continued operations. Additional benefits include the removal of swine waste from area lagoons, reducing odours as the matter will be stored in sealed concrete containers.

GESS will implement sanitation measures to remove particulates from transport vehicles before leaving the premises. The organic fertilizer produced from the mixture of both green and brown biomass will contain less odor as well.

GESS will be using equipment from Austria-headed biogas technology specialist Biogest Energie- und Wassertechnik GmbH (Biogest), with which the company entered into a distribution agreement in June 2017 and from Capstone Microturbine Corporation, a world-leading producer of award-winning low-emission microturbine systems.
