Toyo Engineering awarded EPC for Toyama biomass power project

In Japan, Toyo Engineering Corporation (TOYO), an international infrastructure and industrial engineering and construction company, has announced that it has been awarded an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract to construct a 50 MW class biomass power plant. This plant will be built in Takaoka-shi, Toyama Prefecture, for Equis Bioenergy K.K and marks the second such project in Japan for TOYO.

According to a statement, TOYO will carry out the EPC contract on a full turn-key basis that includes engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning services for a 50 MW biomass-fired power generation unit.

Recently announced by Equis Bioenergy, the plant will use wood pellets as primary fuel. The plant will be based on the reheat system – by which steam, after expansion through the high-pressure steam turbine, is sent back and reheated in the boiler, then resent to the low-pressure steam turbine for further expansion.

TOYO says that it has “positioned” the infrastructure field centered on power generation plants as one of its core businesses, actively working on renewable energy power generation plants such as photovoltaic (PV) power plants and biomass power plants. The contract also marks TOYO’s second order for 50-MW-class biomass power plant in Japan.
