Australia-headed global engineering and construction company Jord International Pty Ltd (Jord International) has announced that it has signed a shareholders agreement with SwitcH2 BV, a Dutch renewable energy company with investors such as BW Offshore, a leading provider of offshore production solutions, and Dutch Oceans Capital.
Under the agreement the value of which has not been disclosed, Jord Group subsidiary Jord Oil and Gas Systems b.v. (JOGS), an EPC contractor based near Rotterdam, the Netherlands, focused on the design and construction of gas compression and gas treatment systems, will contribute to the final design phase of SwitcH2’s groundbreaking Floating, Production, Storage, and Offloading (FPSO) technologies.
Jord is fully committed to the energy transition and delighted to have this opportunity to both invest in and help construct this landmark, future-focused project, said Michel Bosman, Managing Director of JOGS.
SwitcH2 is a project developer with a pipeline of industrial-scale floating green hydrogen and green ammonia production facilities based on proven FPSO technologies.
Flagship project in Portugal
Its flagship project in Portugal will be a 300 MW floater based on Ohmium’s proton-exchange membrane (PEM) electrolyzer solutions, ThyssenKrupp’s ammonia synthesis, and ABB’s electrical and control systems.
Powered by nearshore solar and wind power, green ammonia will be produced on board the vessel for shipment to local users and the Benelux ports.
JOGS is well-known in the global FPSO industry for the design and construction of topside modules.
We are very pleased to be able to tap into Jord’s wealth of chemical engineering and construction experience. Our shareholding base has superb complementarity in skills, know-how, and strategic positioning in the renewable energy space and jointly we strive for FID on our first project soon, said Saskia Kunst, Managing Director and co-founder of SwitcH2.
