Nel Hydrogen US, a subsidiary of Norway-headed hydrogen technology provider Nel ASA has announced that it has received a purchase order for a 1 MW containerized Proton PEM (Proton Exchange Membrane) electrolyzer from Trillium Transportation Fuels, LLC (Trillium).
According to a statement, the electrolyzer will be used to produce hydrogen for a fleet of fuel cell electric buses in Urbana, Illinois (IL).
We’re proud to have received a purchase order for a megawatt-scale containerized Proton PEM electrolyser which will be used to produce green hydrogen for a fleet of up to 12 fuel cell electric buses at the Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District (MTD) in Urbana, Illinois. Trillium is a true leader in providing alternative fuel solutions for transit fleets, and MTD is an exciting innovator in the public transportation sector, and we are honored to work with both on this project, said Steve Szymanski, Director of Business Development, Nel Hydrogen US.
The contract for equipment and associated services have a value of approximately US$2.2 million, and the electrolyzer will be delivered in late 2020. The project is supported by the Federal Transit Administration and the State of Illinois.
