Kicking off 2025 is a round-up and ranking of the Top 10 most-read articles on the Bioenergy International website during 2024, which reveals a few surprises.
In stark contrast to the Top 10 listing of 2023 in which “mobility” seemed to be an underlying theme, only three articles in the Top 10 listing of 2024 touched upon advanced biofuels for transportation, two of which were published in 2019 and 2020 respectively.
Despite many articles published during 2024 relating to sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) and alternative fuels such as methanol and ammonia for shipping, only one article on electro-fuels (eFuels), power-to-X, hydrogen, methanol, and biogenic carbon capture and utilization (CCU) made the 2024 Top 10 most-read.
Perhaps that’s because most articles have been project announcements whereas the article that made it onto the 2024 Top 10 is steel in the ground, a plant that is nearing commissioning.
Instead, the apparent online reader interest in 2024 gravitated toward India as an emerging market, solid biomass fuels, pellets, renewable gases, biomass gasification, and biochar, neatly summed up in this year’s most-read article.
The biggest surprise however was the second-most-read article 2024 – a corporate name change.
On reflection, it is a well-known global name in the biomass- and waste-to-energy world that in recent years has diligently expanded its technology portfolio across combustion, anaerobic digestion, microbic methanation, and carbon capture to mention a few, to become a global cross-sectoral one-stop-shop.
